① Theories
Group 1 focuses on “theory building” and is responsible for elaborating and integrating habitus theory and actor-network theory, as well as formulating these theories using mathematical models. The results will be used to develop a common theoretical framework that will be provided to each group for collaboration.

② History of Human and Natural Interrelationships
Group 2 studies (1) the historical context of human-nature relations from ancient India and Greece to the present day from an anarchist perspective, (2) the history of human-animal relationships since the 19th century, and (3) human habitats from the birth of modern cities to the development of space through the application of actor-network theory and habitus theory.

③ Process of Language Aquisition and Subjectification
Group 3 explores vulnerabilities and pain as fundamental aspects of human nature, and collaborates with researchers from literature, philosophy of language, developmental psychology, and robotics to investigate the significance of vulnerability in individual subjectification. Specifically, the group will conduct language acquisition experiments using artificial intelligence that implements vulnerability, observe infant language acquisition, analyze expressions of pain in literary works using text mining, and investigate the semantics and pragmatics of expressions that can cause psychological distress.

④Diversity of Sexuality
Group 4 studies the “diversity of sexuality” from the perspective of biological sex and gender as habitus, and seeks to conceptualize sexuality by integrating (1) the emergence, formulation, and disturbance of sexuality in literature, (2) the relationship between sex and religion and its institutionalization, and (3) the categorization of sex by modern science, as viewed from the perspective of literature, psychoanalysis, and cognitive neuroscience.

⑤ Biopolitics and Art
Group 5 examines the power to manage biology (biopolitics) theoretically and examines the role of artistic activities in restraining it. In particular, we will analyze the image of human beings evoked by bio-art, in which life is re-created, as an image of human existence in the future. To investigate the ethics and the state of human beings in a post-pandemic world, we will also conduct psychological research based on Esposito’s theory that biopolitics = immunology, and conduct experiments that continuously record individuals’ emotions and physiological reactions in their daily lives.
